Delete your account

Last updated:

This page explains how to have your GamePile account — and everything stored against it — permanently deleted. It applies to the GamePile Android app, developed by Mariusz Górski.

1. How to request deletion

Send an email to [email protected] with the subject "Delete my account".

Please send it from the email address the account uses. That is what lets us confirm the request is genuinely yours — if you no longer have access to that address, write anyway and we will ask you to verify ownership another way before anything is deleted.

You do not need to give a reason, and you will not be asked to justify the request.

If you can still sign in, there is a faster route: the Delete account section of the web panel submits the request for you, with nothing to compose. It leads to the same hand-performed deletion, within the same 30 days.

2. What gets deleted

Everything below is removed outright from the database. This is a permanent deletion, not a hidden or deactivated account, and it cannot be undone:

  • Your account record — email address, password hash, account status, and any note you sent when requesting access.
  • Your profile — gamertag, avatar, card style, profile visibility, and the aging preference.
  • Your entire game library — every playthrough and its full event history: games, which screen they sat on, completion details, retirement reasons, your review scores and notes, and poke activity.
  • Your discovery activity — every card you added, deferred, or dismissed, along with your taste and filter preferences.
  • Your social data — confirmed friendships and any pending friend requests, in either direction.
  • Any outstanding password reset tokens.

3. What remains afterwards

Nothing personal to you is kept in the app's database once the deletion runs. For completeness, three things sit outside it:

  • Emails we already sent you (access approval, password resets) remain in our email provider's records under their own retention schedule.
  • Connection logs at our hosting provider may persist briefly at the infrastructure level before rotating.
  • Cached game information from IGDB, HowLongToBeat, and RAWG stays, because it describes games rather than people and is not personal data.

4. How long it takes

Your request will be carried out within 30 days, and in practice usually much sooner. We will email you to confirm once it is done.

During the current testing phase the app has no self-service delete button — deletions are performed by hand by the developer. That is why the request goes by email rather than through a screen in the app.

5. Want a copy of your data first?

Deletion is irreversible, so if you would like an export of your library before it goes, say so in the same email and we will send you a copy first. This is your GDPR right to data portability, and asking for it does not delay the deletion by more than the time it takes to prepare the export.

6. Questions

Anything unclear, or a request you would rather discuss first: [email protected]. Our full privacy policy explains what is collected and why.
